Association for Continuing Legal Education

Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) is a dynamic organization devoted to improving the performance of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) professionals.  ACLEA is an international association and it was established in 1964.

ACLEA is a dynamic organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities and professional interaction for its members.  The mission statement of ACLEA is – to serve the CLE profession worldwide through leadership, education, and development.  The activities of ACLEA are designed and conducted primarily by its member volunteers.  30% of ACLEA membership serves on committees and actively participates in the planning of programs and in the governance of the organization.  The members are primarily from the U.S. and Canada.  ACLEA has members from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Mexico also.  ACLEA offers Professional Membership and Associate Membership.

Generally, the ACLEA members are from administrators, trainers, managers, educators, publishers, programmers and meeting professionals.  This diversity in background and outlook makes ACLEA the best source for information on CLE today.

ACLEA offers two awards that recognize the contributions of its professional member organizations such as:

  • The Award of Professional Excellence is given to the winner in the categories of Programs, Publications, Public Interest, Technology and Marketing.  This award is also called the John Day Memorial Award for Professional Excellence.
