International Center for Not-for-Profit Law

International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (“ICNL”) is an international research and education based organization that promotes an enabling legal environment for civil society and public participation around the world.  ICNL provides information on legal environment to civil society leaders, government officials, and the donor community in over 100 countries.

ICNL aim is to create a world where civil society can freely develop in all its forms and participate in public decisions.

ICNL provides; legal framework for civil society, civil society sustainability, good governance and accountability, public-private partnerships, self-regulation, advocacy and public participation, and educational initiatives.

ICNL provides valuable resources for strengthening civil society all over the world by providing:

  • technical assistance to over 100 countries;
  • the expertise of multinational in-house staff and global network of legal specialists; and
  • partnerships with civil society representatives, government officials, scholars, and business leaders.

ICNL also provides an online library, several publications and law reports for civil society

ICNL is supported by a number of institutional supporters such as community-based organizations, governments, private foundations, and corporations.
